The Black Panther Movie May Make Me Read Comic Books...

Did you know that the Black Panther Movie grossed over 704 million U.S. Dollars at the box office? That’s insane when you think of it and if you’ve seen the movie then you know why. “Black Panther”, directed by Ryan Coogler and inspired by a 1966 comic, is such a stunningly creative and culturally conscious film. You know I’m not a movie gal, I’m a tea sipping bookworm, but “Black Panther” just may have inspired my newfound interest in comic books.

So, what I will tell you next shows just how much my husband and I don’t purchase box office tickets. The first time we went to go see Black Panther, we had thought we bought tickets for Saturday February 24. The picture above was taken on this date.

However, we didn’t realize that our tickets were actually purchased for Friday, February 23 until a lady was confused about us being in her seat and my husband went down to the help desk to verify. Yep! We had purchased the right tickets for the wrong date! The helpful lady switched our tickets to Sunday, February 25 and this is the date that we actually saw the Black Panther Movie.

One of my favorite scenes is when Danai Gurira, playing Okoye, rips off her wig (the disgrace) and throws it at her opposers. There were so many other culturally significant innuendos in this film. I really enjoyed the movie and because of it, I am looking into Black Panther Comic Books. I have never been a comic book fan so we will see how it goes and perhaps I will review my first comic book here on the blog!
