Black Tea | Cameroon, Africa

Did you know that Cameroon produces and exports over 4 thousand tons of tea and year? What is more shocking is that Cameroonians don’t actually enjoy tea! During my recent trip to Cameroon, Africa, I was able to grab some black tea and upon tasting its deliciousness I was even more perplexed as to why Cameroonians don’t sip tea.

THE HUE

THE HUE: Black Tea | Cameroon, Africa

Black Tea from Cameroon, Africa is vibrant in hue. The deep amber color makes me want to stare into my tea cup forever.

THE SCENT

THE SCENT: Black Tea | Cameroon, Africa

The scent of Black Tea from Cameroon, Africa filled the air long before the steep. When I cut open the tea bag I noticed how fragrant the dry tea leaves were. Once steeped, the sweet malty and caramel notes filled the entire space of my home office.

THE SIP

THE SIP: Black Tea | Cameroon, Africa

Without 2 teaspoons of honey, Black Tea from Cameroon, Africa is smooth and air-y. I would liken it to a black tea cloud that pleasantly plays on the taste buds. The steep was much smoother and less astringent than I thought it would be.

With 2 teaspoons of honey, Black Tea from Cameroon, Africa is heavier, more malty and more astringent in taste. The honey adds a slight sweetness to the sip but the heavy notes overwhelm the palate even finding themselves in the crevice’s of the teeth.
