4 Ways to Celebrate Hot Tea Month

National Hot Tea Month

Did you know that 40% of all New Year’s Resolutions fail after the month of January? Well, I have a resolution for you that is impossible to fail! National Hot Tea Month lasts for the duration of January and is sure to become an addiction that you take well into the year. This special month paying homage to hot tea is fun to participate in and doesn’t require any diets or trips to the gym…

In this article, I reveal a few reasons why hot tea has become such a hot beverage, 4 ways in which you can participate and what I plan to do to participate in National Hot Tea Month. THE HOTTEST THING RIGHT NOW

Why is hot tea so popular though, particularly in the States? After all, American’s idea of a ‘tea party’ hasn’t been quite the same as our English or Chinese friends. As it turns out, Americans are addicted to caffeine and tea, next to coffee, is a great place to find it.

With the rise of health consciousness, Americans have become more aware of what is healthy for them. Tea happens to be packed with many health benefits such as antioxidants, anti-inflammatory components, and L-theanine.

Tea can also be extremely relaxing and comforting which comes in handy as Americans live busy and stressful lives.

It would do tea a great injustice if I didn’t mention that it is also very tasty and can be paired with foods similarly to the way one would pair a fine wine. This experience makes tea a luxury that foodies and millennials find to be intriguing.

4 WAYS YOU CAN PARTICIPATE

Sip Everyday | This is the more obvious way to participate in National Hot Tea Month, just simply buy yourself a couple of different teas and make yourself a cup of tea every day. Perhaps this is something you already do! If not, this would be a healthy way to kick start the new year.

Tea Recipes | Do you already have the beautiful habit of sipping tea daily? Ok, take it a step further then and start cooking with tea. Try new Recipes infused with tea each week and share them with your family, friends or work-mates. Need some ideas? Try Culinary Tea by Cynthia Gold and Lisë Stern. I just began reading this book and I am already inspired with my tea and measuring cups in hand.

Tea Knowledge | I like to call tea “liquid contradiction” because it seems to delightfully contradict itself often. For example, it is quite simple, just water and leaves but there are so many cultivars and so much information about tea that it proves to not be that simple after all. With all the Tea Knowledge that exists, why not spend National Hot Tea Month learning more about tea?

Tea Party | Tea is even better when you can share a cup with family and/or friends so why not host a tea party this January? You can put on the fireplace, serve hors d’oeuvres and tea snacks and have prepared tea in beautiful tea pots that are labeled for your guests. You can save the poufy dresses and large brimmed hats for another occasion as those types of tea parties can be too distracting from what is truly beautiful and important: the tea!
