Purple Tea | JusTea
Did you know that a chameleon’s skin has a superficial layer which contains pigments, and under the layer are cells with guanine crystals making it possible for the animal to change from a variety of colors including purple? Purple Leaf Tea by JusTea is no reptile but add a little lemon juice and watch it change from a translucent purple to a bright grapefruit pink.

THE HUE

As you can see above, the Hue of Purple Leaf Tea varies depending on if you feel like adding a little lemon to your tea or not. The recommended steeping time of 3 minutes yields a translucent purple hue which deepens into more of a pink pigment when lemon is added.

THE SCENT

Even though Purple Leaf Tea by JusTea is a light purple air-y hue without lemon juice added it does not have a light and air-y scent. Woody and grassy scents permeate the air when hot water is poured over the leaves. This tea also reminds me of an oolong in scent.

THE SIP

Hario Chacha Kyusu Maru Tea Pot and Infuser
Without 2 teaspoons of honey and lemon, Purple Leaf Tea by JusTea has woody and grassy notes and is very astringent or bitter. The astringency is stronger than any black tea that I have tasted.
With 2 teaspoons of honey and lemon, Purple Leaf Tea by JusTea remains woody and grassy in taste but the astringency is lessened and becomes more balanced. The tea takes on a refreshing note and probably would taste really good chilled.

THE EFFECT

Any tea named after my favorite hue is a winner in my book! Purple Leaf Tea by JusTea is a very unique tea and provides a one of a kind experience.
